What is VapeRenew?

VapeRenew is a structured collection and recycling program for discarded vape devices in Michigan. It is designed to help organizations manage an overlooked e-waste stream with lithium-ion battery risk more responsibly.

Why does this need a separate program?

Vape devices do not fit neatly into ordinary trash, standard recycling, or generic cleanup efforts. The program exists because the waste stream involves electronics, lithium-ion batteries, and handling complexity that many organizations are not equipped to manage informally.

Is VapeRenew available outside Michigan?

No. VapeRenew is currently a Michigan-only program.

What kinds of organizations may use VapeRenew?

The program may be relevant to a range of organizations, including existing Comprenew Corporate customers, retailers and dispensaries, higher education institutions, municipalities, and larger employers. Fit is determined through qualification.

How do I get started?

The first step is to contact Comprenew Customer Service to begin the qualification process. Customer Service helps determine fit and next steps.

Is this an open sign-up program?

No. VapeRenew is a structured, qualification-led program designed to support good-fit participation and clearer implementation from the beginning.

What happens if my organization qualifies?

Qualified participants move into a structured onboarding path that includes startup-kit deployment and support for beginning the program.

Collection and Pickup

How does the collection process work?

The program uses a defined collection setup designed to support more structured handling and storage. Customer Service helps qualified participants move into the appropriate operating path.

How does pickup work?

Pickup is part of the managed program model. Qualified participants work through the defined process for initiating pickup when their collection activity reaches the right point.

What are customer responsibilities?

Customers are expected to participate in the structured program responsibly and follow the guidance associated with on-site use of the collection system. Detailed instructions belong later in onboarding rather than in the public FAQ.

Documentation and Credibility

Is the program backed by a real recycler?

Yes. VapeRenew is backed by Comprenew, a long-established, highly certified electronics recycler and ITAD provider with experience in collection, logistics, documentation, and downstream accountability.

Are certificates of recycling available?

Yes. Certificates of recycling are part of the value story and are issued as standard practice.
